Samba Live 5.4

The most exciting new feature in our latest release are layouts which allow speakers to control the layout of videos and content for their audience. Modes allow users to switch between full screen, tiled and thumbnail modes in your room.

For better collaboration in teams, we added shared notes. Those offer a way to work together on notes during a video conference. Moreover, users can now also connect via Safari – both on any desktop and any smartphone with iOS. And of course, still without any downloads. We also improved breakout room usage statistics and worked on general usability of some features so everyone can make the most out of Samba Live.

Chrome no longer requires an extension for screen share and the join experience has been made more intuitive.

Account Center

 New Features

  • A new Service Plan setting has been implemented allowing admins to enable private chat by default for all users.
  • Added a "Click to copy URL" button in the recordings list.
  • Admins can now limit the number of contacts a user can have in his Address Book.
  • Breakout Room usage statistics in the Account Center has been improved for much clearer reporting.
  • Download recording buttons are now more intuitive.
  • HTML5 usage can now be tracked separately from flash in the Admin Dashboard.

 Fixed

  • Fixed captcha issues on the registration page.
  • Fixed issue where the "Default Hand Raise" section doesn't appear on HTML5-only sessions. The "Default Settings Panel Values (Applies to HTML5 only)" has been moved out of the Audio Settings section.
  • Fixed minor issues with HTML5 and flash branding elements.
  • Fixed the count to show participant list search field when lots of participants join a session.
  • Removed the redundant Audio Floor Controls option from the VOIP-only settings. The PSM automatically knows whether to display the Controls or not.
  • Resolved issue in the Registration Screen wherein the error message “The Password field must contain numbers" did not disappear when user entered the correct password format.
  • Resolved issue where meetings aren't displayed in "Today's meetings" on the Dashboard after changing the timezone.
  • The "Import to CSV" button in the contacts list can now be shown or hidden for users based on the Service Plan Setting.

 

In-Room

 New Features

  • Added a "modes" panel to allow users to switch between Full Screen, Tiled and Thumbnail modes.
  • Added a new Layouts feature to allow Speakers to control the layout of videos and content for remote users.
  • We now show a device selection and preview popup whenever someone receives permission to broadcast.
  • Added support for Safari.
  • Reworked the join screens when joining sessions for Speakers and Audience to make device selection and preview more intuitive and more robust.
  • Screenshare plugin is no longer required for Chrome 72 and above.
  • Implemented a new Shared Notes feature.
  • Implemented an "active" state icon for breakout rooms. A green dot will appear right next to the icon when the Breakout rooms are active.
  • Users now have the option to enable the lobby while a Breakout session is active.
  • We added a config that allows account holders to completely hide phone dial-in information from the UI.
  • Added support for interactive whiteboards and drawing tablets to our whiteboard.

 Fixed

  • Fixed capitalization issues in the 'Update profile image' popup.
  • Fixed issue where a redundant recorder event notification was causing the UI to show an incorrect state.
  • Fixed issue where dropdown menus would sometimes appear behind other UI elements.
  • Fixed issue where dropdown menus would sometimes not populate with data.
  • Fixed issue where when you allowed access to your microphone, but denied access to your camera, other users were not able to hear you, even though to you everything appeared to be working.
  • Fixed punctuation in the Manage Connection popup.
  • Lobby is disabled when room gets too large to protect it against a sudden influx of joining users when the lobby is released.
  • Playback has been disabled on recordings from deactivated accounts.
  • Resolved issue in the Content Library panel where progress bar disappeared before file conversion completion.
  • Resolved issue where the "Mute all Participants" option was still showing even when all the participants were already muted.
  • Resolved issue where the documents are showing stretched for remote users when in tiled view or forced mode.
  • We improved the retry mechanism for connectivity to the media server API.
  • We now enforce the contracted Content Library storage size limit.
  • We now enforce the contracted recordings limit.
  • Fixed an issue where video broadcasts did not work occasionally.

 

Mobile

 New Features

  • Added support for Safari on iOS.
  • Added option to use Desktop version or mobile app on iOS. We are working on a mobile responsive version for both iOS and Android.

 Fixes

  • Many fixes for Desktop version when used on mobile devices.

 

Hotfixes

 New Features

  • Implemented cloud bursting logic for media servers.
  • SIP Reconnect functionality has been implemented.
  • We implemented the ability to use a global recorder resource pool.

 Fixed

  • Audio levels are now showing properly when switching to a new device on Safari browsers.
  • Fixed SIP bridge reconnection issues.
  • Improved document navigation in Content Share. When re-opening a document, Users will be directed to the page last viewed.
  • Improved the spacing between messages and time in the chat panel for Safari Users.
  • Merged some Italian words to improve translations on email invites.
  • The warning message when a company users limit is reached has been updated with a more precise content.
  • Fixed issue where view-only users were not being assigned to the correct Streaming media server.
