Throwback to WeAreDevelopers Berlin 2025: Tech Talks, Code, and Real Conversations

From 9–11 July, we had the pleasure to join over 15,000 software professionals at the WeAreDevelopers World Congress in Berlin — a gathering that felt less like a trade show and more like a high-energy reunion for the global developer community.

As Europe's leading video conferencing API provider, our team was there all three days with a stand in the bustling startup area, where we met countless developers, founders, and product teams. We talked code, integration, hosting and privacy-first video infrastructure with thousands of curious minds — from indie app creators to enterprise architects. The level of technical curiosity and genuine interest in building better video experiences was truly energising.

Real people, real projects, real feedback

We always say: the best part of any event is the conversations. And Berlin was no exception.

We met founders building niche productivity tools (leading with job platforms), developers looking to integrate secure and privacy-first video into digital health platforms, CTOs exploring embedded video for their next big product or simply development companies looking for a video conferencing API that they can offer to their existing and new customers. Whether it was someone trying to drop in a secure video widget with a few lines of code, or a team architecting their own conferencing flow from scratch — the energy was electric.

We had the pleasure of meaningful discussions with:

  • Alexander Martynau, Developer Advocate at NVIDIA, who was interested in finding out how Digital Samba uses distributed GPU‑accelerated processing for our AI features.

  • Daniel Espino García, Senior Software Engineer at Mattermost, diving into privacy‑first communications for collaboration tools and building out a Mattermost plugin right there, on the day.

  • Jonas Menesklou and Dominik Klotz, Co‑founders at  AskUI, exploring how Digital Samba could use their AI‑driven UI testing platform as part of our new AI-driven development processes.

  • Fernando Torres Tejera, Senior Cloud Specialist at Scaleway, assessing sovereign cloud environments for truly privacy-minded and compliant media hosting.

  • Oleh Meleshko, CEO at Incode Group, evaluating secure video workflows in interviews with developers.

  • Amogh Jayaraj Rau and Muneeb Palliparambil, Co‑founders of ReKruiter, discussing video‑first virtual hiring solutions and how our API fits into their applicant interview flows.

A recurring theme? Developer control. And simplicity of integration. It’s clear that teams want to own the experience — not settle for off-the-shelf platforms like Zoom and Teams. That’s where our SDKs, APIs, and transparent European hosting struck a chord.

A conference built for engineers

WeAreDevelopers stands out because it’s engineered with — you guessed it — engineers in mind. The talks weren’t fluffy; they were technical deep-dives, live coding sessions, and architecture breakdowns led by developers who actually build the tools they talk about.

And speaking of building — during the event, we caught exciting news: WeAreDevelopers and Docker, with its CEO Don Johnson, announced a new strategic partnership to launch WeAreDevelopers World Congress: North America, slated for September 2026. It will be the first time the beloved European event format crosses the Atlantic, with the goal of creating the continent’s largest developer-only gathering.

The collaboration blends Docker’s long-standing focus on community-driven events with WeAreDevelopers’ signature high-energy, festival-like experience. From AI engineers and cloud-native builders to backend devs and open source contributors — this upcoming North American edition promises the same hands-on, tool-focused vibe that made the Berlin event so inspiring.

Digital Samba’s API MCP Server got people talking

We launched our new API MCP Server at the event — a developer-friendly control layer for managing video conferencing infrastructure via natural language or scripting. Think of it as your infrastructure copilot for anything video-related.

The concept sparked some exciting reactions: devs immediately saw the benefit of abstracting room orchestration, user roles, and multi-session analytics into a programmable, AI-compatible layer. Some were also delighted about the way we used the AI to help create Digital Samba rooms with full configuration.

To top it off, our CEO Robert Strobl took to the stage to present the API MCP Server live, walking developers through real use cases and demoing how natural language commands can automate room setup and control. During the demo, Robert leveraged Claude for natural language interpretation, allowing developers to describe what they want — and let the MCP Server handle the API logic. The response was overwhelmingly positive — especially from teams building developer platforms, low-code tools, and automation agents.

We’re building for builders

Events like WeAreDevelopers confirm what we’ve always believed: great tools don’t get in the way — they get out of your way.

Whether you're building in React or just starting with a white-label telehealth MVP, Digital Samba gives you the low-latency, GDPR-compliant, E2EE-ready infrastructure to make it happen — including smart orchestration tools like our new API MCP Server, compatible with Anthropic’s Claude or any other LLM compatible with MCP servers.

And just as importantly, we’re here to talk to you. No gatekeeping. No sales fluff. Just straight-up technical conversations with people who actually ship code.

With over 2 million tech professionals connected through their platform and a flagship European event that draws legends like Steve Wozniak and Tim Berners-Lee, WeAreDevelopers continues to cement itself as the go-to conference for those who don’t just talk tech — they build it. Berlin reminded us why these gatherings matter.

To everyone who dropped by our booth, joined a demo, or chatted with us about video tech and backend architecture — thank you. We left inspired, energised, and full of ideas for what’s next.

If you missed us in Berlin, don’t worry — we’re just getting started. Book a demo with our sales team or explore the API for yourself:
