Introducing Digital Samba 611! Get ready for a major upgrade in your live sessions. It’s all about clarity, control, and creativity!

First up, we’ve rolled out a sleek new multi-tab system that will change the way you share content. Effortlessly open multiple content pieces, including allowing multiple users to share their screen at the same time. Then switch between screen share, whiteboard, and content tabs, with dynamic controls and a brand-new "Push" button that lets you present to everyone with just one click.

Next, we’re excited to launch telephony integration. With a new "Enable telephony" setting, moderators can easily integrate PSTN and SIP dial-in for smooth audio connections. Bring your own bridge or connect to popular CPaaS providers using our API. With our SDK you can manage phone participants with ease and mute/unmute them directly from the dedicated telephony participants list.

WHIP (WebRTC-HTTP Ingestion Protocol) is here, automatically adding a new Stream tab to your room. Share high-quality live video streams from external tools like OBS, with minimal delay, perfect for dynamic, live content sharing.

There’s much more to explore, including virtual video backgrounds and new custom tile SDK methods to further personalise your sessions. Dive in and elevate your experience with Digital Samba!

Digital Samba Embedded, Dashboard and API

New Features

  • Moderators can now enable telephony for specific rooms by adding a PSTN or SIP number and a DTMF PIN. These settings will allow telephony users to dial in to the specific room, ensuring smooth audio integration.
For more details on how this works, please visit our documentation.
  • Added two new webhooks to allow event tracking for phone participants.
Phone participant muted – triggers when a phone participant is muted.
Phone participant unmuted – triggers when a phone participant is unmuted.
  • Added a new "Enable WHIP" setting for specific rooms, allowing moderators to inject live video streams from external tools like OBS into video calls with minimal delay and high quality. Once enabled, a WHIP server and WHIP token will be generated. Both can be copied and distributed to third-party providers to start streaming content directly into the room.
  • Added a new "Push content" permission, allowing selected roles to push and present supported content such as whiteboards, files, or screenshares to everyone in a session.
  • Added a subtle update to the Systemcheck pages to better support white-labelling protection. This refinement helps maintain a consistent branded experience.
  • Added a new option to configure the availability of polls in all newly created rooms via the default room settings. Moderators can now predefine poll access, removing the need to enable it manually for each room and ensuring a more efficient setup process.
  • Our API developer portal at developer.digitalsamba.com has been enriched with direct links to corresponding sections in the dashboard documentation. This enhancement helps explain the functionality of various features by making it easier to cross-reference and navigate between API details and relevant dashboard features.

In-Room

New Features

  • Switch between screenshare, whiteboard, and content tabs. Tabs appear when opened and close when empty. Choose what to present via a dropdown and push it to everyone with one click on a "Push" button. Participants can explore freely or sync back to the pushed item. Enjoy our new multi-tab system!
  • Integrators can now add telephony to the in-room experience, with dial-in participants shown in a dedicated section of the participants list, mute controls, and a new menu bar button to manage the phone connection.

  • Added the exciting new WHIP (WebRTC-HTTP Ingestion Protocol) feature, enabling seamless integration of live video streams from external tools like OBS and other WHIP-compatible platforms.
A new stream tab has been added to the interface, which only activates when a WHIP server and token are connected to a third-party provider. Once triggered, this tab allows you to subscribe to the WHIP stream and display the video feed directly within the room, giving you a smooth way to share live content with participants.
To learn more about WHIP and how to enable it, please visit our documentation.

  • All questions, including answered ones, are now visible by default. Participants can dismiss questions, which will be removed from the filter but can be reopened later.

  • Added powerful new SDK enhancements that open the door to exciting custom video tile experiences, including AI avatars and more. With the ability to create tiles with custom HTML content directly via the SDK, there's now greater flexibility and creativity in how content is displayed during sessions. Please visit our documentation.
  • Added new SDK support for video virtual backgrounds, allowing a preselected video background to be applied in meetings.
This feature enhances the meeting experience by offering more customisation and privacy options, helping create the perfect environment for sessions.

Fixed

  • Fixed an issue where an extra empty screen share tile appeared for other participants after the screen sharing participant reconnected. The tile now behaves correctly and only appears when screen sharing is active.
