On Tuesday, 11 November 2025, our booth at Web Summit Lisbon turned into something special - at exactly 11:11 AM local time, a wave of applause spread as we officially launched Digital Samba Free - our new, fully EU-hosted video-conferencing platform built for people who believe privacy and great design can coexist.
This wasn’t just another product announcement, it rather felt like a statement. And there was no better event than the Web Summit to celebrate and make this statement public.
If you’ve ever been to a Web Summit, you know it’s a storm of ideas, a pool of innovations and the best place for finding new business opportunities and also inspiration. Founders, engineers, journalists, and investors from every corner of Europe spill across the MEO Arena pavilions in the beautiful city of Lisbon. Amid all the hustle and bustle, we managed to turn our stand A523 into a playground - if only for a few minutes, but with great impact.
Attendees stepped in, joined the launch countdown, and started a call in Digital Samba Free within seconds. No tracking pop-ups. No distractions. Just a clean interface, crisp audio, and a sense that maybe, just maybe, this is how online meetings should have felt all along.
We are proud that we were able to create a steady flow of conversations about what it means to own your digital space in 2025.
Digital Samba Free is the perfect essence of everything we’ve learned in two decades of building white-label video platforms for businesses, schools, medical personnel and governments. It’s a fully hosted service that lets anyone start a secure meeting in seconds - no download, no payment, no installation.
Here’s what makes it different:
Under the hood, Digital Samba Free is powered by the very same API and SDK as our enterprise solution, Digital Samba Embedded. That means the reliability, scalability, and call quality used by professional platforms in the B2B segment are now available to everyone.
The timing wasn’t accidental.
2025 has been a year of renewed debate around digital sovereignty. From new GDPR enforcement to the NIS2 directive and the CLOUD Act controversy, more organisations and individuals are questioning who controls their communication data.
At the same time, there’s fatigue with complex, over-featured meeting tools. People just want something that works - quickly, beautifully, and respectfully.
It’s no coincidence that this year also marked the official end of Skype, once Europe’s most iconic communication app that got acquired by eBay and Microsoft respectively. For many, its disappearance felt symbolic - the closing of an era when Europe led the world in simple, human video calls.
Digital Samba Free wants to pick up that torch. It brings back what made early internet communication so powerful: immediacy, clarity, and trust - but reimagined for a privacy-first, post-GDPR Europe.
That’s the niche Digital Samba Free fills. It’s not about being louder or bigger; it’s about being smarter and more considerate.
Our launch party on 11 November 2025 captured that spirit perfectly.
At exactly 11:11 AM local Lisbon time, we had many curious Web Summit visitors stop by to celebrate and test-drive the new platform. Many called it “the European alternative to Zoom.”
We won’t argue with that.
Between spontaneous demos and toasts to a more sovereign internet, the event became a snapshot of where European tech is heading: independent, transparent, and unashamedly proud of its values.
For us, Digital Samba Free marks more than a milestone; it’s a promise.
We’ll keep improving it, adding new accessibility features and capabilities - without ever compromising on privacy.
If you couldn’t join us in Lisbon, you can still be part of this moment. Watch the recording of the live video stream forum for the launch party at our stand here.
