March 25, 2009 (Barcelona, Spain & Harrisburg, PA) Digital Samba today extends its congratulations to PA Turnpike Commission on its nomination for “Best Application of Technology” Award, to be awarded at the 17th Annual Technology Awards Gala.
The Gala is organized by TechQuest Pennsylvania.
The Commission was nominated for its leading role in hosting a series of “Interactive Press Conferences”, delivered over the web to reporters interested in tracking the controversial prospect of tolling of Interstate I-80, a 311-mile corridor that cuts across PA from OH to NJ.
The Interactive Press Conferences were a follow up to an earlier set of community meetings held in 15 counties along I-80. Because live public meetings are costly and time consuming, the Commission turned to Commonwealth Media Services (CMS) for ideas and assistance.
CMS, a division of the Department of General Services, specializes in providing quality, cost-effective, professional communications products and services to the Commonwealth, including the Governor’s Office, departments, commissions, and state-funded organizations.
CMS offers production and broadcast services around the OnSync platform, and recommended the OnSync-based solution to Turnpike, and worked with them to ensure the success of these innovative online events, which are estimated to have saved over $50,000.
